Witch's Chests and Reclaiming the Witch

For the past few months I've been venturing into making new creations that are based on a traditional witchcraft and hoodoo voodoo background. The witch's chests were based on an idea I had a couple of years ago where I actually made a Maiden, Mother, crone one for my friend's daughters 16th as a way of welcoming her into the craft. These new ideas came from that. I love wooden and vintage boxes and my house is full of them. I created a new page on facebook called Reclaiming the Witch as on this page I wanted to make more traditional witchcraft items based on old spells, sigils and the old ways of magic. Visit www.facebook.com/reclaimingthewitch Here are some of the chests that I have made. More are on the way )0(

Jewellery and Ritual

In the craft ritual is integral to our practice. The point of ritual is to create focus and intent from which we can manifest magical changes. There is an argument for an against ritual tools. Ritual tools provide focus and collect energy, storing it, almost like a grimoire themselves. Part of ritual tools are jewellery, that which is worn on the body, in the same way as a cloak will pick up the energy from the ritual, so will your jewellery and more so because it is adding to your own personal energy field and often magnifying it. The ritual jewellery i make is designed to lend itself to specific practices. So for instance, many of my items are goddess specific, so when the witch/magician/sorcerer is working with their own deity, a specific piece dedicated to that deity will act as a focus or magnifier, and so here are my latest necklaces. All are magically correct in their associations for each specific goddess or god, by this I mean that the wood, colours and crystal have all been picked due to their direct association with a particular god or goddess. This is found via extensive research into mythologies.
Here are a few of my latest ritual necklaces.

Sculpting the Goddess

So, I felt like a little bit of experimentation one evening. I had had this lump of clay sat in the cupboard for about two years, so about 3 weeks ago I decided to make a fox goddess, followed by a crow goddess. Then I made a hare goddess and a deer goddess. I didn't want to make the typical goddess with the spiral on her belly, as it is overdone but I wanted to make a comment on the goddess and her animal associations. In my work I often look at wood and crystal associations but have never concentrated soley on the very primal relationship between the goddess and her animals. As a result, the sculptures have come out very primal, almost shamanic. Within the clay I have blended appropriate herbs and the sculpts are between 4.5 and 6.5 inches tall at present, however, as i get more confident I am sure they will go bigger. Air drying clay is easy to use but very hard to smooth out at present so I think my sculpts look rough, however they will bet better hopefully. Here are some pics of the unpainted and painted ones I have created so far, and if you like what you see come and like my Moon Sculpts page. Enjoy )0(
